Shivraj Ramsharan Biography:
Shiraz Ramsharan was an Indian scientist known for his work in the field of crystallography. Shivraj Ramsharan was born on 10 October 1923 in the city of Madras in India.
He was married to Kausalya. Kausalya was the granddaughter of BS Srinivasa Shastri, an Indian politician. He got his early education from Nagpur.
He obtained the degree of B.A.C. Honors from Nagpur University in the year 1943 and received the degree of M.Sc. in the year 1945. In 1948, he obtained associateship in IISc, and in 1949 he obtained a degree of DSC from Nagpur University. He got his Ph.D. under CV Raman.
Shivraj Ramsharan Work
After completing his doctorate, he worked as a lecturer in the Indian Institute of Science. At that time, he developed an interest in X-rays and played an important role in improving the overall science division in the National Aerospace Laboratories.
He has worked as a professor in the Indian Institute of Technology. At the beginning of his career, Prof. Ramyash worked as a Research Assistant at IASC in 1945. Then from 1981 to 1984, he became the director of IICS.
He was a lecturer in IISc from 1949-1953. From 1953 to 1962, he was working as an assistant professor. He was the director from 1981 to 1984.
Prof Ramsharan worked at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn New York from 1954 to 1955. He was Honorary Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Research Institute from 1984 to 2003.
Shivraj Ramsharan Honors
- Prof. Ramsharan was awarded the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Award by the Government of India in 1966.
- In the year 1980, Ramsharan had received the Vasvik Award.
- In 1985, he was awarded the INSA Aryabhata Medal.
- In 1985, he was awarded the Paghbhushan Award by the Government of India.
- In 1955 he is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences.
- In 1972, he was elected a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy.
