Henry Cavill Biography & Wiki

Born May 5, 1983, in Jersey, a dependency of the British Crown, Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill, by his full surname, is one of the most promising actors of his generation.

After studying at the Stowe School in Buckingham, Henry Cavill began his career on the stage where he played many pieces and tried his hand at musical comedy. 2001 makes his debut in front of the camera in the film “Laguna” where he plays alongside Emmanuelle Seigner.

The young man forges an experience over the roles he plays in numerous television productions. By dint of perseverance and self-sacrifice, he landed one of the most important roles of his career with the character of the Duke of Suffolk in the historical series "The Tudors".

Despite this important success, Henry Cavill, who dreams of the big screen, is denied three major roles of superheroes for which he passes the castings. Batman, Superman, and James Bond will not put on his features. In 2005, the magazine "Empire" even awarded him the palm of "the most unlucky man in Hollywood".

But the actor is not discouraged. And he does well because a few years later, the director Zach Snyder entrusted him with the role of Clark Kent in his film “Man of Steel”, released in 2013.

On the private side, Henry Cavill had a history with the British showjumping rider, Ellen Whitaker, who met during a competition. Unfortunately, their incompatible schedules will get the better of their romance. Since then, the actor has had a relationship of several months with the American actress, Gina Carano. In the fall of 2015, he found love on Tara King's arm, but the couple separated in May 2016.

Henry Cavill Life & Career

Henry Cavill grew up in Jersey, with his four brothers, where he received a traditional education before discovering theater at Stowe School in Buckingham; from then on he alternated between classical pieces ("A Midsummer Night's Dream") and musicals ("Grease") and even tried his hand at staging.

His professional career really began in 2001 with Laguna, a Canadian drama in which he played a young orphan taken in by a former mafia. At barely 18, this first role allows Henry Cavill to rub shoulders with performing actors and to acquire artistic credibility.

A first public recognition comes thanks to his secondary but significant role of Albert Mondego in La Vengeance de Monte Cristo(2002). The film, adapted from the work of Alexandre Dumas Père and directed by Kevin Reynolds, was a satisfactory success in the United States.

He then went on to various film projects by participating in Rose and Cassandra the following year, Tristan & Yseult with James Franco in 2006, or even Stardust, the mystery of the star of Matthew Vaughn a year later.

On television, Showtime gives him a regular role in the series The Tudors; the career of the English actor, who takes on the role of Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, seems to take a new turn.

However, he continues the bad castings and misses Batman Begins, Superman Returns, and James Bond in Casino Royale, earning him the nickname of " the most unlucky man in Hollywood" by the British magazine Empire.

However, he consoles himself with the comedy Whatever Works by Woody Allen, alongside Evan Rachel Wood and Larry David. More and more taken by the success of the Tudors, the actor abandons the cinema for two years, before the director Tarsem Singh did not suggest that he share the Immortals poster (2011) with Mickey Rourke.

He then continues with the filming of the thriller Sans Issue, which he wears alongside Bruce Willis. In 2013, Henry Cavill finally takes his revenge on Superman and plays the legendary superhero in Zack Snyder's reboot, Man of Steel.

Focusing on action films, the actor is featured in Very Special Agents: Code UNCLE  by Guy Ritchie. He then dons the Superman costume again in  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and  Justice League which, although they generate $ 868 million and $ 655 million respectively worldwide, are critically badly received. In 2018, he plays the very tough opponent of  Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible: Fallout, the sixth installment of the lucrative saga.
