Mel Gibson Biography & Wiki
Mel Gibson was born on January 3, 1956, in Peekskill, New York. After studying at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sydney, Australia, his adopted land, the aspiring actor began his career in 1977 in the series The Sullivans.
But it was the movie Mad Max, and its sequels, that propelled him to the big screen in 1979. He quickly became one of Hollywood's highest-paid and most profitable actors thanks to the Lethal Weapon saga. Maverick, What Women Want, Signs, or The Ransom, are among his other big hits.
The star also directs his own films, such as Braveheart, which won two Oscars in 1996 (Best Director, Best film) or The passion of Christ (2004) and Apocalypto (2006). The director's image has been tarnished in recent years due to several arrests for drunk driving and his anti-Semitic comments.
On the private side, Mel Gibson married Robyn Moore in 1980. The couple has seven children; Hannah, Edward, Christina, William, Louis, Milo, and Tommy. But in 2007, Robyn Moore filed for divorce, and the judgment was pronounced in 2011. In a relationship with Oksana Grigorieva, the actor once again experienced the joys of fatherhood on October 30, 2009, with the birth of Lucia.
But the couple separated in April 2010. In 2015, the actor met screenwriter Rosalind Ross and formalized his love story on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2016. In September 2016, Mel's press attaché Gibson confirms Rosalind Ross is pregnant. On January 20, 2017, Rosalind Ross gave birth to a baby boy named Lars Gerard.

Mel Gibson Life & Career
Mel Gibson is the sixth of a family of 11 children who, settled in the United States, soon emigrated to Australia, the birthplace of the mother, Ann. After training at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sidney, Mel Gibson made his film debut in Summer city (1977), an Australian thriller by Christopher Fraser.
At the same time, he performed in the theater, where he showed eclecticism, then in television series such as The Sullivans or Tickled pink. In 1979, the success of George Miller's futuristic action film Mad Max brought him worldwide fame. Two sequels called Mad Max 2 will follow(1981) and Mad Max Beyond the Dome of Thunder (1985).
At the same time, his performances as mentally retarded in Tim (1979) by Michael Pate and as an unconscious young soldier in Gallipoli (1981) by Peter Weir earned him his critical stripes, in the form of two Best Actor Awards from the Australian Film Institute (equivalent to the Césars). The actor will return under the direction of Peter Weir in The Year of All Dangers, in 1982.
In 1984, Mel Gibson launched an assault on Hollywood with The Bounty of Roger Donaldson and The River mark Rydell. But it is his character of a crazy and suicidal cop in The Fatal Weapon (1987) by Richard Donner that makes him popular in the United States. This saga, developed through three other opuses will definitely establish it as a sure bet in American action cinema.
The actor, therefore, tries to expand his repertoire, by multiplying cinematographic genres: classical tragedy ( Hamlet by Franco Zeffirelli ), the parody western (Maverick by Richard Donner) or the romantic comedy (hat women want by Nancy Meyers), arouse his interest. But Mel Gibson is not just an actor, he is also a recognized director.
In 1993, he began directing with The Faceless Man, a drama in which he played a disfigured and marginal hermit. With this experience, he staged himself in Braveheart (1995) the evocation of the life of William Wallace, hero and symbol of Scottish independence in the 13th century.
This ambitious historical fresco won five Oscars, including those for Best Film and Best Director, as well as the Golden Globe for Best Director. Founder of Icon Productions, he produces via this company Payback (1998), a remake of Point of No Return by Brian Helgeland, and The Million Dollar Hotel (2000) by Wim Wenders, two films in which he is also the principal interpreter.
In 2004, he created a sensation by producing The Passion of Christ, a historical fresco in Aramaic and Latin dedicated to the last hours of Christ. Three years later, he did it again with Apocalypto, a fresco dedicated this time to the Mayan civilization and shot ... in the Mayan language.
As an actor, this lover of great war frescoes is illustrated as an American independence activist inThe Patriot, the road to freedom by Roland Emmerich and as a lieutenant grappling with the enemy Viet Cong in We Were Soldiers by Randall Wallace. In 2001, he tried his hand at a new register, that of the supernatural thriller, by filming under the direction of M. Night Shyamalan in Signs, a film about the appearance of gigantic circles and strange signs in the fields of Pennsylvania.
It is then much rarer on the screens but we still see it in The Singing Detective a British mini-series and in the film Out of control, in 2010. After years tormented by his personal problems, Mel Gibson returns to the front of the stage in Le Complexe du Castor, a film directed by his friend Jodie Foster, presented out of competition at the 2011 Cannes film festival.
Subsequently, the actor plays in the series B Kill the Gringo (2012) and follows with another Mexican-sounding project that makes more noise, Machete Kills (2013) where he plays the villainous Luther Voz. The same year, he joined the cast of The Expendables 3 - Special Unit - with Sylvester Stallone in charge of operations - to play the new villain.
